Abstract

This article aims to study the book "Tintin in the Congo" in the context of a multifaceted written and visual discourse promoting Belgian (European) imperialism in Africa. It also aims to highlight the ideological roles of comics, in addition to their artistic and entertainment roles. Comics are rich texts that are highly influenced by culture and influence both young and old alike so that their literary and entertainment value does not prevent them from being a means of instilling false awareness among their readers and loose ideas about the other and their culture.
