Abstract

This reading aims to present the book The Principals of Political Thought in the Meccan Quran as a model for serious Quranic and political studies. The main thesis of the book is to respond to the claim that only the Medinan Quran uniquely addresses constitutional matters. Therefore, it argues that there are also principles of political thought in the Meccan Quran. In our analysis of this thesis, we concluded that the Quranic text can be utilized to derive political theories and epistemological principles that are increasingly needed in our contemporary reality. This can be achieved by leveraging human experiences and intellectual accumulations across time and space.
